Teal Pumpkin Project
October 20, 2016Help us by making sure all children will come home from trick-or-treating and Halloween events with something they can enjoy! It just takes one simple act: offering non-food treats to kids with food allergies as an alternative to candy.
The Teal Pumpkin indicates to trick-or-treaters that you have non-food treats available!
SuperKids Pediatrics is a proud supporter of the Teal Pumpkin Project. Every child should be able to experience the joy and tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween safely. But kids with food allergies are often left out of the fun, since most candy is off limits. It’s so easy to make a difference in your home or office!
You can show your visitors that you are supportive by:
- Displaying a teal pumpkin.
- Having non-food treat options for trick-or-treaters.
- Helping spread the word about the Teal Pumpkin Project by sharing this post and hitting Like on the project’s Facebook Page.
Last year, households from all 50 states and 14 countries participated. This is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all trick-or-treaters.
The Teal Pumpkin Project was inspired by a local awareness activity ran by the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee (FACET) and launched as a national campaign by the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) in 2014. We thank FARE and FACET for their ongoing partnership as working to reach families across the country and around the world with the Teal Pumpkin Project’s messages of awareness, inclusion and community.
