Florida Medicaid Redetermination
April 5, 2023During the COVID-19 emergency, the federal government passed a law to make sure no one lost Medicaid coverage regardless of household changes. However, the state of Florida has begun its process, called “unwinding”, to determine eligibility for all its Medicaid and KidCare enrollees. This means that families who are no longer eligible or who cannot be reached could lose their coverage.
Steps you can take to stay covered:
- Visit: www.myflorida.com/accessflorida
- Login or create My access Account.
- Update your contact information.
- Apply, Renew or request additional benefits.
- You can also contact the Department of Children and Families at 850-300-4323.
- Be on the look for any letter (usually with a yellow stripe) with Medicaid Redetermination instructions.
- Ensure that coverage is active and that the Insurance Managing Policy (Simply, Caritas, Community Care Plan, Sunshine) has Dr. Lizaida Medina Candelaria as your child PCP.
- For Florida KidCare, visit healthykids.org/account.
The state will review everyone’s coverage. Medicaid eligibility must be renewed for your child to keep coverage. It is your responsibility to complete the renewal process with the Department of Children and Families. If you do not act your child could lose coverage, even if your family is eligible.
It is very important that the state can reach you and that you take action by reaching out and replying immediately to requests for information.
We care that your child stays covered!
