Change in office Workflow and Policies
March 17, 2020In line with state and federal guidance and in an abundance of caution, we have been implementing significant changes in our protocols and workflow as the viral infection evolves in our community. The goal is to make our office as safe and hygienic as possible and limit unnecessary interactions. We understand that some temporary changes are uncomfortable to our patients and our staff but, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation towards mutual efforts to keep your family, community and our staff and their family healthy. Changes will be in effect until the viral pandemic risk has subsided or we notify otherwise. Thank You!
- After Hour Services – a fee will be addressed for all non-urgent calls made after hours as per our policy. After hours services are intended for established patients with a medical urgency. Calls for general questions regarding COVID-19 or other non-urgent topics that do not represent an imminent health threat to your child are not welcome after hours. We encourage you to send a message to your doctor through your patient portal or wait for the next regular office hours to call. You can find COVID-19 information by clicking here.
- Walk in appointment – As of Tuesday March 17, we will not be accepting walk-in (encounters without an appointment). Walk-in patients will be addressed to schedule an appointment with the front office and come back at their appointment day and time.
- Screening – As a caller requesting an appointment visit to our office, you can expect additional screening with a few basic questions over the phone. This will help us prepare for your visit and in our scheduling logistic efforts.
- Scheduling – We are configuring our schedule implementing a block schedule considering clusters of well child and sick appointments by levels. As we offer an appointment time, you may temporarily have less flexibility than previously in order to improve the logistics of block schedule and safety.
- Face Mask Required – at all time during office visit.
- Office Cleanliness – As we increase aggressively our disinfecting cleaning of the office, you may sense an alcohol-ish smell as you come in. The staff has been using high alcohol based wipes with high frequency.
- Waiting Room – The scheduled patient and only one healthy guardian will be allowed to attend appointments. All other companions will need to wait outside the office. We will be asking all patients who exhibit symptoms consistent with the virus (Fever and/or cough), to return to their car after check in. We will call the phone given at check in when an exam room and our staff is ready. We will then escort the patient and one healthy family member to the exam room.
- Orientation and Meet & Greet appointments – Dr. Medina loves the opportunity to get to know new families and the privilege to offer orientation sections for new parents and lactation support. Unfortunately, we are canceling all in-office tours and orientations until further notice.
